Yes, grades are important. But learning how to learn is just as important. As the student progresses in his/her academic life, their knowledge will build right along side their capacity to integrate and apply that knowledge. As a tutor, I hope to aid the student in acquiring the tools and skill sets that will aid them in achieving their goals.
