Margarita Barry (WJI '07) joined the CBS Radio (Southfield, Mich.) team as Web Editor/Webmaster in May 2008. Prior to working at CBS Radio, she worked as graphic designer for the Michigan Business Review in Livonia, Mich. She has also worked as pre-press graphic designer for the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers, freelance writer for Latino U. Magazine, illustrator/photographer for the Sex, Etc. Newsletter, and college correspondent for the Student Paths Newsletter.

Margarita first got involved in journalism and multimedia in 1998 when she started printing her own zines and designing websites. As a pre-teen, she became Mudd Jeans online's first ever teen editor, and illustrated for the now defunct Airshop Catalog and Planetkiki.com. As a teenager, Margarita served as webmaster, cartoonist, and page editor for The Southfield Jay at Southfield High School, writer for The Obsidian and Webmaster for The Black Student Union, both at Bowling Green State University. In 2004, Margarita founded Tint Magazine and tintmag.com, a multicultural 'zine for young women created to "Celebrate Women of Every Color." The 'zine has since garnered several media nods, including features in Ellegirl Magazine, CosmoGIRL magazine, Crain's Detroit, Metro Times, YPulse, and Midwstern Goodness. She currently serves as the Founding President of HUES: Designers of Color, a non-profit organization for designers and artists of color, and is working on www.thedindecor.com, a blog that will focus on interior design, architecture, and art in the city of Detroit.

Margarita is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, InDesign User Group, National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Native American Journalists Association and will be entering the 2009 class of the Bizdom U. "entrepreneurial bootcamp" this summer."
